What is Warwicktweetup?

Since the Inaugural Warwicktweetup back in March we certainly have come a long way. Our website has matured into a hub of local businesses and we have raised money for Air Ambulance on several occasions. Monthly pub crawls ('Twubcrawls') were spawned, and Ladies' lunches have also become a popular spin-off from the original tweet up.

But what is WTU? What does it do? Where is it going? I'm asked this so much that I'm beginning to ask myself. Well, here goes...

I usually start to describe Warwicktweetup by describing its humble beginnings, how we formed the idea to 'Tweet-up' over one conversation on Twitter. Then I go to describe the Inaugural Warwicktweetup, the packed Lanes Restaurant with the Goodie bags, the radio interviews and of course this website, which was built in a matter of days with hardly any brief and was set off on its lightening journey over DM with myself and Guy Eastwood @Surefyre

But of course, I'm not really describing what it is now I'm merely describing how it came about. A story in its own right but not what it is today. So what is it? Again I've not actually told you in a quick Bio or About Us description what on Earth WTU is and how it could benefit you.

There's a very good reason for this. We (Todd, Karen and Christie) don't really know how to describe it either! A Tweetup is an event. Warwicktweetup was and will continue to be an event. Warwicktweetup is more than that though, It's an organisation with a committee, a nominated charity, a website and an ever growing network of mainly local businesses who are keen to join this new and exciting networking group. It is becoming ever apparent that people are actually joining Twitter to be part of WTU! Yes we think that's what we are..."A new exciting networking group of local people and business in the Warwickshire area embracing and formed with Social media"....or something like that anyway ;)

Warwicktweetup has provided lots of excitement and networking and the constant parade has almost been so hectic that we forgot to actually decide where we are going with it all. I say almost, because in the last few weeks there have been a few important meetings and brainstorming DMs and emails flying around backstage. We hope to show these to you soon. Hopefully at WTU4!

Beneath the fun and banter on Twitter there are three hard-working individuals and also some wonderful members who put their skills on the table and make WTU what it is today. Warwicktweetup is an organisation of some amazing local business and some very talented people too. Purely by its very nature WTU exists because of this. Anyone helping WTU to progress are also showcasing what they can do to the other members and the many people interested from the outside too.

Changes are coming; we don't plan to stay hidden in Twitter for much longer, with sign-in required for the majority of the pages on this site. In fact, we have just launched on Facebook. Karen has put the majority of her photos from the previous 3 tweet ups on our page. The outside world are looking in, and now they can see a little more.

So are you ready? Because we are. Warwicktweetup is growing up (a little) but don't worry - we have too much fun running WTU for it to be anything but exciting.

We can't wait to see those of you who have managed to get a place on the guestlist for WTU at Pancho on 29th, and we also would like to thank you for your support and help so far. You're all awesome!

  Cheers.

Todd, Karen and Christie.
